A small American fragrance house with one foot in the Gulf.

Al Bahiya Trading Co. is a family-owned wholesale importer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. We bring authentic oud, attar, bakhoor and perfume oils from the Arabian Peninsula to American retailers, hotels and event houses. We are not a marketplace, not a re-bottler, and not a white-label brand pretending to be a distributor.

Everything we sell comes through our hands. Every retailer we ship to has spoken with one of us. That is the entire business model, and it is the reason it works.

The founder

Gonzalo Perez, owner

Born in El Paso, Gonzalo spent the early 2000s as the buyer for a regional chain of independent perfumeries across Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. He kept hearing the same two complaints from his own shop owners: nobody in the United States could deliver traceable, ungraded-down oud at a price that made retail sense, and the importers who did carry it would not take their phone calls.

In late 2013 he flew to Dubai with a notebook. He spent three weeks in Deira's Perfume Souk talking to producers, then another two in Muscat. In early 2014 he leased a small suite in Las Vegas, brought back a single 20-foot container, and started cold-calling every indie perfumery west of the Mississippi.

Eleven years later he still picks up the phone, still flies to the Gulf twice a year, and still personally signs off on every new buyer's first order. The company is deliberately small. It is meant to stay that way.

Timeline

Eleven years, one warehouse, four people.

    2014

    Al Bahiya is founded out of a 600 sq ft suite in northwest Las Vegas. First container: 14 cases of Hindi oud chips.

    2016

    First US trade show — NY Now. We come home with 22 new accounts and have to lease additional storage.

    2018

    Direct relationship established with a third-generation attar house in Muscat. Their dehn al oud is still our bestseller.

    2020

    Pandemic. We pause new accounts for six months and focus on existing buyers. Not a single account lost.

    2022

    Move into the current 4,800 sq ft warehouse on San Juan Drive. Hire a second packer.

    2024

    Launch the private-label program after years of being asked for it.

    2026

    320+ active US wholesale accounts. Still a four-person team.

The warehouse

Our 4,800 sq ft facility in northwest Las Vegas holds roughly 11,000 SKU units at any given time. Climate-controlled, FDA-registered for cosmetic distribution, and small enough that Gonzalo still knows where every case lives.

What we believe

Three things we will not compromise on.

Traceability over volume

We would rather sell less, slowly, with a paper trail back to the harvest, than fill a container with mystery oud.

The buyer relationship

We cap our active account list. When a retailer calls, they reach a person who knows their store.

Honest grading

If a lot is Grade B, we sell it as Grade B. We do not believe in the marketing-language inflation that has eaten this category.
